Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel Review

Good afternoon, dear readers!

Today I have a review of the really popular Lush Snow Fairy shower gel! :D

This wonderful product was sent to me for review. :}

Here is the Lush description:

Sweet, sparkly, and candy scented!

Oh how we've missed lathering up in those fluffy pink bubbles! We crave her bubblegum and sweet vanilla fragrance all year, and just can't imagine the holidays without her. Or famous fairy contains a smattering of biodegradable shimmering luster (or as we like to call it, Fairy Dust), so she won't harm the earth one little bit! Sparkly, pink and candy scented - what more could we ask for?!
When I first heard of Snow Fairy, I knew that it was a very popular product among Lushies worldwide.  However, I didn't think too much about it.  I am very picky with scents, and thought that I would probably not like this one, and that I would find it too sticky-sweet.

OMG was I ever WRONG!! O_O

When I stepped into a Lush store and decided to take a whiff (thank goodness I did!), I was blown away by one of the most delicious scents!!  (I was unable to get it at the time, but a really wonderful person sent it to me :'D.)

It is supposed to smell like candy-floss (or cotton candy, as we say here), but this is what I smell:

(Not my image)

This smells exactly like marshmallow Easter eggs!! O_O  Like, exactly!!
I went around my home with it and asked my family what they thought, and they agreed with me.

(For serious Lush, you really should re-package this and sell it during the Easter season as "Marshmallow Egg" or something.  Maybe purple or yellow coloured :D)

The gorgeous pink gel has a beautiful colour-shifting particles in it (although it does tend to settle at the bottom, but that is okay).

I cannot get over how amazing this smells!!  When I used it I wanted to eat marshmallow eggs SO BAD!  I want a huge one of these, but I don't know if that would be good for me and my diet ;) XD.

Here is the list of ingredients:

Water (Aqua) , Sodium Laureth Sulfate , Sodium Cocoamphoacetate , Lauryl Betaine , Fragrance ,Propylene Glycol , Synthetic Musk , Lactic Acid ,Titanium Dioxide , Calcium Sodium Borosilicate , Tin Oxide , Polyester-3 , Methyl Ionone , Benzyl Benzoate ,D&C Red No. 28 , D&C Red No. 21 , Methylparaben

(You can see the shimmer here!)

I really had no idea of how much I would enjoy this.  Here is my advice: if you think you won't like the scent of something, give it a sniff anyway, as you may be *very* pleasantly surprised!

I read a review that someone found this drying on their skin, but I didn't find it drying at all (and I can get some pretty dry skin).

As this is a seasonal product, I suggest running out and getting it before the holiday season is over!

Rating? 10/10! :D

Have you tried Snow Fairy?  Do you have any other shower gel favourites from Lush?

Have an amazing day!! :D

Lush Bûche de Noël Facial Cleanser Review

Good morning, lovelies! :D

Today I have another Lush Christmas product review: Bûche de Noël facial cleanser!

This is a holiday edition facial cleanser, which is a favourite among many fans! :D

I am so glad that it comes in one of their classic black pots (when I buy other facial cleansers of theirs in the stores near me, they usually come in those clear, thin plastic tubs, and I don't like those so much).

This product was very kindly sent to me for review. :}

Here is the Lush description:

The cool yule cleanser

Fans of Angels on Bare Skin will love this Christmassy take on our best-selling classic facial cleanser. Perfect for all skin types, Buche de Noel is the cleanser that’s good enough to eat (although we don’t recommend it). Named for the log-shaped French dessert, ours is loaded with fresh ingredients for glowing holiday skin. Sorry, no buttercream here! Ground almonds gently exfoliate away dead skin while kaolin clay acts as a mild, deep cleanser. Then we add almond oil and seaweed to nourish and moisturize seasonal dry patches and leave skin softer than a freshly fallen snow.

I was very interested in this, and I was so impressed by how incredibly smooth my skin felt after application.  Baby butt smooth!! O_O  I stroked my skin and I couldn't get over how smooth is was, just from using this to wash it!!!

To use it you pinch off a small pea-sized peace, then add a few drips of water until you can mix it into a paste.

Smooth over your skin, then rinse it away, and you have a seriously silky face!! :D

I heard that it was the glycerin that really adds that extra oomph to the smooth factor. :}

I love how these types of Lush cleansers have a gentle exfoliation effect to them, so they help get rid of dead skin cell buildup.  Not only that, but it's a Christmas face wash!! :D WOOOO!  Who wouldn't want a Christmas face wash that works extremely well? :D  (And this is so cute wrapped up in some nori seaweed XD.)

Here are the ingredients:
Ground Almonds (Prunus dulcis) , Kaolin , Glycerine ,Fresh Satsumas (Cutrus reticulata) , Dried Cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon) , Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao) , Brandy , Almond Essential Oil (Prunus dulcis), Vetivert Oil (Vetiveria zizanoides) , Cedarwood Oil (Cupressus funebris) , *Linalool , *Cinnamal ,Fragrance , Nori Seaweed (Fucus vesiculosus) ,

I have a little trick that I use to make Lush facial cleansers and fresh face masks last longer: put them in the freezer! :D  Seriously!!  (And I am not the only one who does so.)  It can take me a long time to go through a pot of facial cleanser this big (easily more than 3 months, depending on how generous I am while using it), and it takes me longer than 3 weeks to go through the fresh face masks.  This way I can keep them around for as long as I need, and I don't notice any difference in how well they work.  I now have a collection of at least 8 different Lush products in my freezer (3 cleansers and a bunch of fresh face masks) XD.  I know of several people who stock up on this cleanser at Christmas, and keep a bunch in the freezer to use for the rest of the year (as this is a seasonal product, it is only available during the holiday season).

Although the scent of this product is not quite my favourite (don't get me wrong, it isn't bad, just not to my taste... I prefer the scents of Angels on Bare Skin and Let the Good Times Roll :D), I know that a lot of people are a fan of it, and with a product that works this well, who cares? XD

The price is $12.95 (Can) for 100g, and that is a steal!  While the pot may look small to some, you soon learn that it will last you for several months, and as this works as both a facial cleanser and a scrub, that is a pretty great deal. :D

Are you a fan of any of Lush's facial cleansers?  Have you tried Bûche de Noël?

Have an amazing day :D

Essence Stay Matt Lip Cream Review - 04 Silky Red

Good morning, dear readers! :D

I am a huge fan of red lip colour, as well as Essence cosmetics.  So today I have a review of Essence Stay Matt Lip Cream in 04 Silky Red.

This is a gorgeous bright red, that has a creamy formula, yet looks matte on the lips (we use 'matte' where I live, vs. matt).

Sorry about the awkward blurry mirror photos (I swear, I tried to remove those spots but they just didn't go!):

The colour below is the most accurate:

My camera was having a crazy time with this red when I took a flash non-reflection-in-the-mirror photo:

(The more I look at this, the weirder it looks O-o)

I would advise some lip liner and/or better application skills than what I presently possess, but other than that it is a really great formula! In the photo above you can see a bit of bleeding at the corners of my mouth, but I think that may have just been my shoddy application skills.  I am wearing a bit of red lip liner in these photos, but I still made a mess of my mouth. XD

It doesn't dry my lips out very much despite it being a matte formula.  The colour payoff is fantastic, it smells like Lip Smackers Vanilla Frosting lip gloss from a bazillion years ago, and it was dirt cheap! :D  YAY ESSENCE!! However, I found this on a stand that was separate from the usual Essence permanent display, so it may be harder to find.  Boo!

This wears really well but I can't give an accurate time frame of how long it lasts since I smoke and drink tea/stuff all day.

Seriously, this is one of my all-time favourite lip products, and I just got it!!

Have you tried any of the Matt Lip Creams?

Have a great day! :D

Lush Noriko Soap Review

Good afternoon, lovelies!! :D

While it is still a few days away from Hallowe'en, and I know that some of you might not be as excited as I am, CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE!!!! :'D!!! >:D

My countdown until the next Christmas starts on Boxing Day (no joke!).  The holiday season is my absolute favourite time of the year.  I have permanent Christmas decorations all over my bedroom. When stores start playing Christmas songs in October I smile with glee.  And I cannot help but get super happy and excited when my favourite companies start releasing their Christmas products. :}

Enter: Lush!! :D

A lot of Lush's Christmas products are now available, both online and in-store.  Some have not arrived yet in-store (at least in the Ottawa area), so they will be coming soon.

I have been overjoyed at being able to get some of Lush's Christmas collection, as this is my first Lush Christmas (WHEEE!!!)

So starting today, I will be reviewing a bunch of Lush's Christmas products!!  WOOO!

Today's review is for Noriko soap, which was so kindly sent to me for review:

Here is Lush's description:

Smooth, creamy and bursting with floral perfumes

This delicate floral soap creates a soft, creamy lather that nourishes hardworking hands. With seaweed and glycerin to soften and hydrate, and rose, ylang ylang, lavender and orange oil to create a fresh, rainy garden perfume. Noriko is named after our enthusiastic Japanese friend who loves creating new LUSH products. It has become a best-selling soap in Japan, with Japanese-inspired ingredients like sake, rice decoction and tofu to nourish the skin. We've brought it back as a limited edition treat for you this winter season. Lather up and enjoy!

This is a really lovely soap!  It is very creamy and it smells lovely.  I find that it has a really interesting fragrance, which is not overpowering at all.  It has notes of muted florals and a spicy kick, which I think is from the sake (good gravy do I love sake!).

Here are the ingredients:

Propylene Glycol , Rapeseed Oil , Coconut Oil (Brassica napus; Cocos nucifera) , Rice Decoction (Oryza sativa) , Sake , Tofu , Water (Aqua) , Sodium Stearate , Sodium Lauryl Sulfate , Agar Agar Gel (Gelidium cartilagineum) , Titanium Dioxide , Fragrance, Lavender Oil (Lavandula augustifolia) , Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena) , Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) ,Brazilian Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis) , Glycerine ,Sodium Chloride , EDTA , Tetrasodium Editronate ,Sodium Hydroxide , Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides) , *Geraniol , *Farnesol , *Benzyl Salicylate , *Benzyl Benzoate , *Linalool , FD&C Blue No. 1 , FD&C Red No. 4 ,

Noriko lathers really well, and it feels nice on the skin.  If you like cutting your soaps to help preserve them, this one cuts like butter! :)

I also like that the fragrance doesn't fill the bathroom :} (I know that a lot of people would love that for Lush products, but since there are 3 other people living in the same house as me, I have to take into account whether or not they like a fragrance).  This does scent the skin, but in a subtle way, so it shouldn't interfere with any additional fragrance that you would like to wear.

I also really like the look of Noriko, as it has a creamy whitish-base with these fun blocks of colour on top (I got the yellow!). :D

On top of everything else, I love the fact that it has ties to Japan, as I am a huge fan of that country!!  (I love you Japan!) :D

Overall I am so happy that I have had the opportunity to try this, and I think it is a great addition to any bathroom!!

Have you tried Noriko yet?  If not, I highly suggest grabbing a slice and giving it a go! :D

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sally Girl Mini Lipstick in Shy - Review

Good afternoon, lovelies! :D

My favourite type of makeup to wear is lip colour.  Even if I am wearing nothing else on my face, a bold lip makes me feel more confident and put together.

I've always been a fan of reds, and lately I just cannot seem to get enough of them! :)

So, during my last trip to Sally Beauty Supply, I perused their mini Sally Girl makeup collection near the cash register, as I have had many good experiencing using their cute and rather inexpensive makeup.

I picked up Shy, which is a semi-sheer bright red.

This is a blue-based red, which makes it great for skin with red undertones.

When it is on, it looks a bit red-pink:

(I tried to adjust the colours to make them more true-to-life, but they look super bright here as I had to use my flash.  The colour is a bit darker and deeper in real life.  Also, please excuse the messed-up blurring, I meant to blur around the lips so I could focus on the lip colour and not my skin, but I was a bit overzealous! XD)

The coverage is really decent, and what I like most about the formula is that it is really creamy, and not drying. :D

This is slightly sheer, so it does fade faster than a matte lipstick.  I would like to tell you how long it lasted on me, but I drink tea all day and smoke, and I don't think my experience would be very helpful. XD

I really like that with the Sally Girl cosmetics, you buy them in mini-sizes, which makes them very economical.  You can try a bunch of them for a very small cost, and not worry about wasting much money if you don't like some of them on you. :)  (Also: you can easily take these with you, as they don't take up too much space.)

I would suggest using a lip liner with this, as it can bleed a bit outside of your lip line.

Have you tried any of the Sally Girl mini lipsticks before? :D

Have a great day!

Lush Ceridwen's Cauldron Bath Melt Review

Good morning, lovelies!

Today I have another Lush Hallowe'en product: Ceridwen's Cauldron!

This delightful bath melt was provided to me for review.

(This product is in the permanent range, so you can pick it up all year round, and I really believe that you should! XD)

Here is the product description from Lush.ca:

"MAGICAL, RELAXING BATH MELT FOR SOFTER SKIN

Slip into our enchanting potion of oats, lavender and sandalwood to calm and soothe your irritated, sensitive skin. If you’re wishing for relief, we can guarantee that this bath melt it will make your skin dreams come true. Rich, nutritious cocoa butter and walnut oil melt into the bath water to quench and soften your dehydrated skin, frothing ever so slightly, leaving you with a muslin bag of whole oats to give your skin a soothing and gently scented scrub for instant relief from redness and itch."
First off, this smells wonderful!  It has a very calming herbal scent.  It is not a spicy scent (like pepper), nor is it a very 'green' scent.  It is a bit hard to describe, but trust me when I say that it is very uplifting, yet relaxing and calming.

Here are the ingredients:
Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao) , Whole Oats (Avena sativa) ,Laureth 4 , Walnut Oil (Juglans regia) , Fragrance , Tangerine Oil (Citrus reticulata) , Lavender Oil (Lavandula augustifolia) ,Sandalwood Oil (Santalum austro-caledonicum vieill and Fusanus spicatus) , Frankincense Resinoid (Boswelia carterii) , Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena) , Elderflowers (Sambucas nigra) ,Daisy Flowers (Bellis perennis) , Cowslips (Primula veris) ,*Geraniol , *Limonene , *Linalool - Lush.ca

When you add this to your bath, it gives the water a milky white tinge, with a little bit of foam on the top.

When it melts you are left with a little bag of tied up oats, which you can use to gently buff your skin.

The oats are very creamy (almost slimy, but I honestly don't mean that in a bad way!!), and they are one of the main reasons why the water turns a bit opaque.  I picked up the sachet and squeezed out some water when the bath melt was gone and only oats were in it, and this is what the water looked like:

This is one of my favourite bath products from Lush.  The water is so soft and almost a bit creamy, and this makes my skin feel wonderful.  From the smooth skin to the relaxing scent, what is there not to love? :D  (I love how 'soft' this makes my hard water!)

I cut my Ceridwen's into two pieces, and use half of it in one bath.

I wrap half of the cut pieces into the muslin cloth and tie it up again, then put it into my bath.  I hold it under the running water as the bath fills up, so that I evenly distribute the oat-y goodness.

Afterwards, I rinse out the oats, let the cloth dry, than re-wrap the remaining bath melt and it is ready to go for bath no.2! :D

 Whitish, cloudy water.
 Soft foam.

Conclusion:

Bubbles: A little bit of foam after the tub fills up, but not much, as this is a bath melt.

Water: Cloudy, smooth, and delightfully herbal.

Skin afterwards: Smooth, but not very scented with it (then again I did use some Ro's Argan, and that could have masked anything! XD)

Bathroom scent: It fades after the bath is emptied, but before that the room is scented is a relaxing herbal fragrance (not 'spicy' smelling).  While the fragrance is definitely there, it is not oppressive nor cloying.

No staining on the tub.

Rating: 10/10

Would I re-purchase?  Yes, and I already have. :)  This is probably my favourite bath melt.

Have you tried any of Lush's bath melts before?  Which are your favourites?

Have an amazing day!

Lush Pumkin Bubble Bar Review

Good morning, lovelies! :D

To continue on with the Lush Hallowe'en reviews, here is one for their limited edition Pumkin bubble bar! :D

This cutie was very kindly sent to me for review. :}

This is one of the cutest bath products that I have ever seen!! XD

Here is the description from Lush.ca:

"MISCHIEVOUS PUMPKIN BUBBLER

This past Mother’s Day we invented an adorable, pink raspberry-scented bubbler called Mumkin. She was so popular that we’ve created Pumkin: her autumn counterpart to help us celebrate the arrival of fall! This mischievous little character has gotten into the Halloween candy early with a candy leaf and a licorice top, so be careful he doesn’t sneak into your candy stash when you’re not looking! Crumble into the tub to lavish yourself in mounds of cozy bubbles and soft, beautiful orange waters on a cool autumn night. The delicately-blended sweet and earthy aroma of orange flower absolute and ylang ylang oil softly perfumes the skin and leaves it feeling clean and fresh."

Here is a size reference:

The Pumkin is scented like Lush's Figs and Leaves soap, so I would suggest that those of you who are a fan of it to give this baby a try! :D

Here is the list of ingredients:

A part of me was really sad to use this, because it is just so adorable!!  It could be a bathroom mascot! XD

Here we go:

(My sister held and crumbled the Pumkin as I took photos)

 There he goooooes!  Oh noooooes!

R.I.P, Pumkin!

Starting to dissolve and mix into the water:

Aw yeah, awesome orange colour!!

Now for some bubbles...

The lovely orange stays, even with my big tub!

Now for the finisher... the photos above are pretty much what the beginning of the bath looked like without adding more water manipulation.  But if you have an empty jug or bowl, you can do this:

(Sorry about the messy tub area.. but look at that mountain of bubbles!!! :D)

WOOHOO BUBBLES!!!

Okay!  So here are the stats (I got my trusty sister to test this out, as she really loves the scent of Figs and Leaves soap :D):

Bubbles: nice and thick, and stayed throughout the bath.  There were even some left over after the water was drained out.  (Bubbles were so thick, mountains were built.)

Water: Lovely and subtly scented, very smooth (but does not leave a residue on the skin).  Gorgeous orange colour, which is perfect for Hallowe'en! :D

Skin afterwards: Smooth and soft, and also subtly scented (Figs and Leaves soap was used with the bath, and the soap had a stronger scent than the bubble bar).

Bathroom scent: the fragrance is there, but it is not overpowering at all.

No staining at all!

Tips: You may wish to keep the licorice stem out of the bath, as while it does break down, it looks a bit odd and breaks apart before disappearing.

My sister rated this a 10/10!!  Definitely a winner! :D

Have you tried the Pumkin?  If not, be sure to grab it before it is gone! :D

Products I'm Really Enjoying Right Now

Good afternoon, dear readers! Today's post is about some of products that I've been enjoying lately!  Swatches (where applicable) ...
